What To Look For In A Successful Exercise Program
There are a lot of exercise programs on the market. And each one uses a different approach for creating change in your body.
But this presents a problem, how do you decide which one to follow through on? You might just throw your hands up in frustration.
So here are the elements you should look for in an exercise program:
1. Resistance training: If you want to fundamentally change the way your body looks, you have to resistance train. It’s the best tool for changing the way your body looks and for burning the highest amount of calories. So make sure there is some form of resistance training in your routine.
2. Stability work: Although you don’t want to overemphasize stability work, it’s an effective tool for making sure you burn the most calories. You see, stability work forces you to balance and by extension, activate a lot of smaller muscles.
3. Easy cardio: Don’t think you should always be doing gut-busting cardio on the treadmill. Do this, and your results will be compromised. You see, easy cardio helps you burn calories while not breaking down your body.
4. High intensity cardio: This type of cardio burns more calories than low intensity cardio, but it comes at a cost. It can interfere with your resistance training. And recall that resistance training is the most important part of your routine.
5. Targeted toning: If there is a specific area of your body that you want to change, you have to directly exercise it. So don’t just do total body exercises if you want to improve the way your legs look. In this case, you also have to do lower body exercises.
6. Rest: If you don’t rest enough, your body will suffer big time. So make sure your program addresses this issue. I would be wary of any program that has you doing high intensity exercise day after day. This will break down your body.
Choosing the right fitness program can be a challenge, especially if you are just starting out. So make sure you look for the aforementioned elements.
