Get a Great Workout Indoors
Depending on where you live, most areas in the United States have parts of the year when it is just not so practical to workout outdoors. In the northern regions that time is usually in the winter when it is too cold to go outside and in the south it might be during the summer when it could be too hot to workout outside.
As a result, many people look to do some type of exercise indoors and people often think that this will compromise the quality of the workout. But you don’t have to reduce the intensity of your workout just because you are doing it inside.
Different machines help you reach your goals and the best part is that you can stay inside when you are doing it. Choose between the treadmill, the elliptical and the stair machine.
When you run on a treadmill you don’t even have to think about what the weather is like outside because the heat and the cold will not really affect your experience at all. You can change the speed quite easily and you may even get a better workout than if you were running outdoors.
Another advantage of the treadmill is that it is a softer surface than if you go running outside on the streets which can be tough on your joints and knees. However, it can sometimes get quite boring to run on a treadmill if you are used to running outside.
You can go for the elliptical which gives great workouts and you don’t have to deal with impact from running. It is not an alternative to outdoor activity but rather its own exercise that people enjoy.
You can also go with the stair climber which gives you a very intense workout. Many people get winded after just a few minutes on one of these machines so be sure to build into it gradually.
Give these machines a test run and see which one you enjoy most and also challenges you. When you find one that fits both of these qualifications you can begin to give it a spin indoors.
Just bare in mind that you can get as fit indoors as you do outdoors. If you get bored, grab a good book and keep going.
