Feeding Your Hungry Muscles
If you’re a guy, especially a young buck in your twenties and single, I bet you wouldn’t mind having a little extra muscle to compliment your body. That would definitely make you want to go to the beach just so you would have an excuse to take off your shirt and get some stares from girls.
The blunt truth is that even if you’re a dedicated gym rat, you’re probably still far off from reaching your ideal body mass. The quest for that perfect body will quickly have you testing your patience and your tolerance for frustration. Your gut wrenching efforts in the gym so often goes unrewarded.
Even if you commit to a solid workout routine, that only comprises one part of the equation. Your work is not over when you leave the gym. After a gut busting workout, your muscles are starving for nutrients. This means you need to be in the kitchen preparing a nutrient dense meal. A meal loaded with high quality fats, carbs, and lots of protein.
This is where most muscle seekers miss the mark. They put all their efforts in the gym, but leave none in the kitchen. What you put in your mouth and swallow is just as crucial as your workouts. Most lifters are either oblivious to this critical aspect, or they just refuse to accept it because they don’t want to extend their efforts past the gym.
As much as we may want to believe it, there is just no way around a steady nutrition plan. This means foregoing the cookies and ice cream when at the grocery store, and loading your shopping cart with fresh fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, canned tuna, and chicken breasts.
Sticking to a bodybuilding diet also requires planning in advance. I’m sure you’re familiar with the notion of eating 5-6 smaller meals, as opposed to 3 larger ones. This may require preparing a meal the night before, or having that energy bar or protein shake handy during a work break. It may be inconvenient at times, but these are the hassles you have to settle for if you’re serious about packing on the pounds.
With the workout and diet components in place, bodybuilding is a 24/7 process. In the end, it is up to you whether those muscle gains are worth the efforts around the clock.
