Endurance Grows With Creatine Use
Science is always striving to learn more about the human body- every constituent and how it all comes together. What comes hand in hand with this kind of investigation is the happy side effect of medical breakthroughs. One of the fields on the forefront of metabolic and regulatory investigation is found within athletics. Athletes continually push themselves harder and harder and to achieve a greater level of performance, supplements and compounds are continually tried. Now the trend is to look inward, at naturally occurring products like Creatine.
One of the most important metabolic cycles in the body is found in the synthesis of ATP, which is also known as Adenosine triphosphate. This cycle is what essentially fuels all of the cells of the body and that is especially true of the muscles. When you require a burst of speed, or even a steady stream of fuel, it is ATP that provides that. To make this fuel however, there are many important constituents that are needed and one it is the organic acid Creatine.
The cycle that produces ATP has a number of biochemical reactions fueled by the various organic acids that are produced within the body and which Creatine is one. Where does Creatine come from? Beyond the usual cleaning and purifying duties, the kidneys and liver also make this acid that is then sent out into the blood stream to be taken to wherever it is needed.
Creatine is a non-essential nutrient, but that label is sort of a misnomer. It does not mean that itself is not essential, it most definitely is, and it just means that having to eat it is not necessary for producing. The opposite is true for the essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6 which are needed by the body but not produced by anything and have to be ingested.
To perhaps be further confusing, it is not to say that we humans do not ingest this product. We do and in large amounts for storage whenever we eat meat. This is part of the reason that protein is a large component in muscle building and training. It stands to reason that vegetarians and vegans have much lower stores of Creatine because they only have what they produce. Studies have shown that for these types of diets, when they take supplements their cognitive skills get better.
This link to cognitive abilities have shown the importance of Creatine overall in neurological health, as any sort of genetic deficiencies result in severe neurological disorders. Using it as a sort of therapy for those with these types of problems has shown some promising results in strength.
The issue with these types of diseases that makes them so devastating for those afflicted is that there is a general and overall degeneration of the muscular functions. This lose of control can be slowly over time or suddenly all at once. The loss is a hard pill to swallow and so many doctors are looking for a way to alleviate these problems. Using supplements has soon a marked increase in muscle strength.
This naturally leads to inquiring deeper into those who have all of their facilities and push them to their limits regularly- athletes. Fuel is important for everyone, but for an athlete it can mean the difference between a good and dismal performance. Endurance runners, for instance, have no issues with their fuel source since the need for ATP is constant and regular.
For other athletes who require bursts of activity, their bodies can become weak quite quickly because of the need for more and more ATP. Supplements help these power athletes much better than they do for endurance athletes. Taking any type of product for the desired effect of increased performance long term is always risky, but Creatine, as a natural product is head and shoulders above most compounds.
